It’s come to our attention that some people are having trouble finding the podcast for this website (A problem, you see, because we are The Rift Podcast)!

We are working on a new design, however the full implementation plan is still a few months in the works! For now, you’ll find the latest Podcast news & information, as well as download links, over on the right side of your screen. Just check out the area under our lovely logo and you should find the nice big Download Episode button, as well as options to Subscribe in iTunes and Subscribe to our RSS Feed.

Hey everyone! Hope you’re having a great Friday! It’s been quite a busy week at The Rift and I know Trion’s been quite busy too! Today marks the final day of Official Releases with Europe finally joining the rest of us on live (well, for those who didn’t pre-order)!

I know quite a few of you were disappointed that there was no Podcast last week – but don’t fear! We have a brand new that will be ready for your ears on Monday! This upcoming episode will detail Rift’s headstart and will feature a roundtable discussion with Esloan of HorRIFTic Intentions, Karen Bryan of Massively, Cindy ‘Abigale’ Bowens, and of course Arithion and Desikis!

As well, The Rift is looking to expand! Yes, we’ve been quite dedicated to bringing you weekly (usually!) Podcasts, but with the game finally being release we’ve decided to bring even more to the community!

Check below the break for some opportunities, announcements, and maybe some secret contest details!

Chris Junior, Senior Systems Designer for RIFT, joins us today to talk about PVP, PVP and did we mention PVP?

• Raid Queues
• Post 50 PVP
• PVP: Valor, Prestige and how it works
• PVP Souls, Crowd Control and Gear
• OpenWorld PVP
• Warfronts incl. Port Scion

He talks about everything in detail and branches off into some other minor pvp areas as well. Not to mention the revolutionary cake-pie. And we have it on good authority that he meant 21 points + 45 … not 46

Cindy ‘Abigale’ Bowens joins us as well and talks about the lead up to Beta 5 and the growing community.

Podcast: Play in new window

So, today saw Trion release a pretty damn nice PVP video. If you haven’t seen it already, check it out here!

A little summary of the points raised:

• There will be many different ways for PvP players to have fun in Rift.
• Zone-wide invasions!
• Each faction will have the opportunity to attack the other during planar invasions.
• Warfronts are cross-server, which helps reduce wait times.

As well, we’ve learned about some new Warfronts! We now have 4 announced warfronts:

• Whitefall Steppes (Capture the Flag)
• The Black Garden (Martyrdom)
• The Codex (Domination)
• The Battle for Port Scion (Conquest) *New*

As well, Chris Junior tells us a bit about the Favour and Prestige system:

• Favour is a form of currency players will gain from level 10 onwards.
• Prestige can be gained at level 50 and represents your PvP level.
• The higher your Prestige, the more armour you can wear and the more points you can put into your PvP souls

And so – we will also be talking to Chris Junior for Monday 24th January 2011′s podcast and asking for clarification on some points and full questions on others. Keep an eye out for some clarifications and a more in-depth look at PvP from the devs Monday!

Having a week off was fantastic – but in that week we had a lot of information surface AND of course – the first Beta event!

There was lots of chaos on the Official forums, many invites that went out and overall an air of excitement about the community in general.

Today Cindy ‘Abigale’ Bowens joins us to chat about beta from the other side – from behind the scenes. She briefly covers the following:

• VIP Invites etc
• How the servers held up
• The overall response to invites
• How the CSR programme was received
• What they learned from the process
• How what they learned can make the next events better
• Ice Cream

This week the team also welcomes Dooc to its members as our German translator.
