Races, customization and classes- oh my! Weekly roundup.
by The Rift Podcast Team on Aug.13, 2010, under Blog
This week, interestingly enough, saw the release of the final two races in an article over on MMORPG.COM. The Defiant’s missing race will be the Kelari (or as we prefer to look at it: Dark Elves YAY) and the Guardian’s missing race will be the Dwarves – because come on, what would an mmorpg be, without dwarves.
In this article, they also raised some concerns about the customization process – saying it’s limited in options for the characters. We can all hope that the devs will let us know about the character customization and whether or not this is intentional and why – or else is the system as yet, incomplete?
Another great information release at MMORPG.COM was the confirmation of the Pyromancer class. A mage soul that burns their enemies from a range, the pyromancer has some really nice lore to go along with it.
Massively has also had a nice bit of info about the Dwarven race pop up. It’s a really good read and has some nice – not seen before – screenshots.
TenTonhammer has had a great little sneak peek at the game and can be found Here. The preview talks about a few of the starting zone for both Guardians and Defiant. It also talks about the Rift death mechanic. Soul Walk is a play on the corpse run mechanics of old. When a player dies they have a short amount of time to get away from enemies that killed them before they respawn. This is only part 1 of a two part sneak peak so be sure to keep an eye at TenTonHammer for part two.
IRC Friday’s resumed this week, and Abigale surprised us with not one guest but three. Berenger Fish, Adam Hetenyi, and Billy Shaughnessy are members of the Rift instance and dungeon team. The three developers answered numerous questions about how the game will handle such instances. Be sure to read the logs at TelaraCentral or Telarapedia.
Rift Podcasts have resumed! We had a chance to speak with Eric Vignola, a Character Technical Director for Rift, and grill him with an assortment of questions. As always the podcast will be released on Monday.

Well after doing the midweek one, I knew I wouldn’t have the energy to get yet another one recorded and sound edited in 3 days lol. So that’s why we said there wouldn’t be one on the 9th hehe.
But we’re not going anywhere, promise
