The Rift Podcast – Second Episode – Adam Gershowitz
by Arithion on Jul.05, 2010, under Blog, Podcast
This last week has seen some tidbits of information emerge -- like in the Simon Ffinch E3 interview video. It gave us some excellent footage of character creation, with strategic blurs to keep us hanging on by our nails.
Over the last five or six days the Rift: Planes of Telara FanSite collection has also grown, and while some might conjecture that this was in relation to the announcement of a FanSite programme being in the works -- it’s still an excellent example of how dedicated some fans are.
There are four new fan-sites that we’re aware of. Rift Nexus, Rift Junkies, Rift-News and TelaraTimes. All of these can be found in our sidebar. Though while the information is scarce most of us just sort of rehash what people who browse the forums know -- as soon as information becomes more readily available -- I’m sure we’ll see a much more diverse range of topics burst forth. As it stands right now, we’re all just pouncing on anything we can get our hands on.
This second episode of The Rift Podcast was lucky enough to have Adam Gershowitz, a producer for the game Rift: Planes of Telara, with us to answer some questions about how the Class System works. He’s a very busy man and we appreciate him making time in his busy schedule to talk to us.
It was a lot of fun and we hope to be able to talk to him again.
He takes us through some of his history in the MMO industry and addresses many aspects of the Soul System people are curious in Rift. He’s even nice enough to give us a few small hints here and there. Everything from pve and pvp soul differences, to the exact way the system functions and the company’s motivations behind the soul class system’s creation. Adam was extremely informative and easy to understand and we can’t say how excited about the game this interview has made us.
His knowledge of how the callings relate to each other and how the souls within the callings will afford a type of synergy you can experiment with yourself were insightful and make Rift’s soul system sound potentially complex yet always able to afford the players versatility and enjoyment.
We’d like to thank Adam for his time and look forward to the next time we get to hear from him
~
Other things this last week:
A small review was done over on Tanooki about the game, and Jives -- as per her usual picture happiness blessed us with some great screenshots and some humor which can be found on both the Rift Facebook Page, and the official forums!
Please don’t forget that this week the IRC chat was on Defiant Lore and can be found at Telara Central who host these events.
IF you’d like to see the log, please go HERE and take a look at some very involved Lore. It was a great session.
We hope you enjoyed the podcast and look forward to next week when we’ll have Abi, Jives and Ciovala with us to discuss the evolution of Heroe’s of Telara into the game we’re all waiting on with baited breath -- Rift: Heroes of Telara.
If you’d like to contact us -- please don’t hesitate to send us an email.
Here is Simon Ffinch’s Interview :
Hope you Enjoy it

Great interview girls, keep it up!!!! The only problem I have it that most likely I will be playing FF14 when it comes out at the end of September. Then, I will have to make a choice to keep playing or leave it for Rift. Rift really seems like it is going to be a solid game!

I really enjoy your podcast, please keep up the good work. waiting with baited breath for more infomation and videos. The game looks very promising with the soul system and the dynamic events that are the rifts. Like Yak said though a lot of MMOs are coming out and its gonna be tough to pick and choose the ones you want to play, especially if must of them go the monthly subscription
