Podcast 5: A day in the life of Abigale – and playing Rift.

This week has been another good week for Rift: Planes of Telara. Even though it’s still just drabbles of information slowly trickling out to us – we grasp at pretty much every tidbit.

Soon though, soon it’s Gamescom time, and after that there’s PAX. Definitely looking forward to the amount of information we’ll see released then.

In this week’s podcast we have Abigale sit down with us and have a nice relaxed chat. She goes over a day in the live of Abigale at the offices, and what exactly it is a Community Manager does. It’s a lot more than just sitting and browsing forums.

She also takes us through a few adventures she experiences in the game including an exciting rift encounter, wondering mobs and clarifies a few things we already know and how they apply in game. It’s the first of our relaxed chats. Get a cup of coffee and have a listen.

Next week’s episode will see us interview Joshua Kurtz, one of the Rift Class designers. We’re really looking forward to everything he can answer for us.

Monday 19th saw an excellent Dev Diary at Massively on souls and classes. It’s a great watch if you haven’t seen it, and fun to rewatch even if you have.

Abigale took Simon Ffinch out to lunch and interrogated him for us – with her own and our questions. You can find this grilling on the Official Rift Forums.

MMORPG had an excellent and informative article on the Death Rifts in the game. It’s a great read so be sure to stop by.

Last and definitely not least: On Friday Abigale joined us all in the Dev chat on IRC to answer a plethora of questions in regards to her gameplay. Telara Central has the log up, and of course Telarapedia has wikified it beautifully.

    Nice little chat about general stuff, and it’s also kinda fun even hearing about your PC set ups in a weird way lol… does that make me sad? I think it probably does.

    Abi seems lovely, but I am really looking forward to next week and hearing from someone actually building this thing.

    Yay, another podcast! I really like having these to look forward to each week. :) I know Tron can’t go in-depth into game stuff every week, but I enjoy these chats as well. Still, I can’t deny I’m really looking forward to next week!

    Oh noes, a guy added to the podcast though? :o ;)

    I see more in depth stuff in the future! ;) But alas we need to see more of the game for that. Heehee.

    And no doubt me and Ari’s gaming set ups are going under a lot of change before the game.

    Thank you to both Arithion and Desikis for letting be apart of such a fun endeavor. It is a great deal of fun to brainstorm these questions, even when it seems all the best ones are denied!!

    Really looking forward to the coming weeks and months because Abigale said the community would be getting a ton of information….unless a ton has a tm next to it like her soon. ;)

    This was a great listen! I love your camaraderie and the questions you asked Abigale were ones that I wanted to know as well. I loved your question regarding computer set-up … and then you discussed your own setups. Great stuff. And … I love accents! ;O)

    Obviously I listen because I want snippets of info on Rifts that I may have missed elsewhere, but hearing that MMO couple arguments sound pretty universal really made me smile. I met my wife 10 years ago in Lake of Ill Omen, at the time she was in the UK and I was still living in the states – needless to say, we’ve been through a *lot* together and I guess we’re pretty lucky that our relationship problems usually only revolve around non serious gaming issues (she gets mad if i die, and she’s the healer!I don’t even get mad if I die…only if I don’t get a LOT of swords!).

    Anyway, I really enjoyed this one. Thanks :)
